How to Reduce Food Waste At Home
Posted on September 14th, 2015 by Ferocious Media
We often don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what we’re throwing away. After all, we don’t need it anymore! However, knowing what you’re wasting can help save you money and help do the environment some good. Since food waste makes up such a significant part of what we throw away at home, here are a few tips to help you reduce food waste.
Tips to Reduce Food Waste:
- Shop on a Full Stomach – If you’ve ever been hungry in a super market, you know the struggle of over-buying. Everything looks delicious on an empty stomach! Make a list and go food shopping on a full stomach so that you won’t be tempted to stray from your shopping list.
- Buy In Bulk – Not only is it cheaper to buy in bulk, you can also buy as little or as much as you’d like! In addition to saving on food waste, you’ll also reduce the amount of packaging that you throw away.
- Save Leftovers – Instead of throwing away leftover food, reuse it! Take leftovers for lunch or for dinner the next night.
- Share – If you’re going out to dinner or eating at home, share your food with friends and family. This will help reduce food waste and leave you with a reasonable portion size!
