How to Celebrate World Water Day

HiRes Today is World Water Day!

Water plays an important role in our lives.  It’s not just for drinking – we use water when we take a shower, wash our hands, prep dinner, clean our clothes, etc.  Many people don’t realize that water is even used to create new materials and packaging.

Unfortunately, 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water and 1 in 3 people lack access to a toilet.  That’s why it’s so important that we take the time to use water efficiently and take care of this precious resource.

Today, we celebrate the important role that water plays in our lives and how we can make an effort to conserve water at home.

  • Recycling one ton of newspaper saves 7,000 gallons of water.
  • It requires 95% less energy and water to recycle a can than to create a new one!
  • Glass made from recycled materials cuts water pollution in half.
