How Does Recycling Help The Environment?
Posted on January 24th, 2017 by Residential Waste Systems
We all know that it’s important to recycle, but do you know why? There are so many different ways that recycling helps reduce our impact on the environment around us. That’s why it’s so important that we take the time to recycle all of our empty bottles and cans. Not convinced? These are a few of the ways that recycling helps the environment.
How does recycling help the environment?
- Recycling helps save energy. Using recycled materials uses less energy than creating a product from scratch. This includes producing the product and transporting it!
- It reduces the amount of waste in our landfills. The problem with landfills is that it takes a very long time for the waste inside of them to decompose, and as they do, they emit gases that could be harmful to the environment. By keeping recyclable materials out of our landfills, we can cut back on waste and save space.
- We are creating less NEW materials. When we recycle old products into new ones, we don’t need to go out and find new materials. This means that we aren’t abusing the natural resources around us, expending energy to transport them, and using energy to make them into new products. This enables us to protect our natural habits for the future.
